Christopher Owens
Lysandre
Earlier this year, Girls frontman Christopher Owens shocked and bummed out the entire indie-music universe when he announced that he was leaving the band. But this morning, we get the extremely welcome news that Owens will return early next year with a new solo album called Lysandre, its title and lyrics largely inspired by a girl that Owens met and fell in love with on tour. Doug Boehm, the producer behind Girls’ great 2011 album Father, Son, Holy Ghost, is behind the boards once again.
“Lysandre’s Theme” and “Here We Go,” the album’s first two songs, flow right into each other; they’re starry-eyed mostly-acoustic lovestruck ballads with a surprising dose of Renn-Fest flute. They’re just absolutely beautiful.
