Liss
First EP
This is the follow up to Liss' debut single 'Try Always' released in November last year via the highly-respected Danish label Escho. 'Try' was a liquid piece of fast-paced funk pop that imagines what might have happened had Michael Jackson recorded with Arthur Russell. It was an irresistible first statement from the Aarhus, Denmark-based quartet, and a compelling introduction to Liss' unique brand of Nordic Soul. Now Liss return with a four track 12" EP on XL. Lead track 'Sorry' offers up mystical summer yet soulful vibes. Images spring to mind of tropical beaches and steel drums, even though none are present in the track. Soren Holm's unusual and unique voice towers above the layers of synths beautifully. Think a mix of Arthur Russell, Maverick Sabre and Prince.
