The Last Thakur
The Last Thakur
A lone gunman is determined to bring down the man who disgraced his family in this independent action drama. Doulathpur is a tumble-down village in the countryside of Bangladesh which is ruled by two men - the Chairman (Ahmed Rubel), a crooked Muslim politician who became mayor in a fixed election, and Thakur (Tariq Anam Khan), an unscrupulous Hindu landowner who has sent local rents soaring as he builds an elaborate memorial to his family. One day, a penniless stranger named Kala (Tanveer Hassan) rides into town to settle a score - it seems one of Doulathpur's leading citizens assaulted his mother, and he's come to seek justice against the guilty party. While Kala is just one man, he's a crack shot with rifle, and by the end of the day he's uncovered some ugly truths about both the Chairman and Thakur. The Last Thakur was the first feature film from director Sadik Ahmed, who previously distinguished himself as a cinematographer.
