Belle and Sebastian
Storytelling
Though a significant amount of time passed between the film's premiere and the release of this album, 'storytelling' is the soundtrack that cult heroes belle and sebastian created to accompany todd solondz's controversial film of the same title. though all the music is by the group, this isn't exactly a proper belle album, the bulk of the selections are instrumentals, intercut with snatches of dialogue from the film. that said, those instrumentals bear the kind of quiet grace and intimate beauty that the band's fans have come to expect; elegant little chamber-pop pieces with just the right blend of beauty and naturalism. the new songs written for the project have wit and melody aplenty, again a belle and sebastian trademark. clocking in a at 34 minutes, this soundtrack album contains 8 instrumental tracks, 5 snippets of spicy dialogue from the movie, and 6 vocal tracks written for the movie. a treat for fans of the band or the director, todd solondz.
