The Mamas and The Papas signature sound was based on a four-part male/female vocal harmonies arranged by the band’s principal songwriter, John Phillips.
Their debut album from 1966 is a genre-hopping delight taking in pop, soul and folk-rock and contains the singles “California Dreaming”, Monday, Monday” and “Go Where You Wanna Go” as well as their unique take on the cover versions of “Spanish Harlem”, “Do You Wanna Dance”, “The In Crowd”, “You Baby” and the Lennon/McCartney composition “I Call Your Name
As with all Back 2 Black vinyl re-issues they’re faithful to the original vinyl release and they’re all pressed on 180gram vinyl and come complete with a Digital Download for the album.
