I against I is the third studio album by the american hardcore punk band bad brains released in november 1986 the best-selling album in the band's catalog, i against i is a critically acclaimed album that mixes american hardcore punk with funk, soul, reggae and heavy metal.
It is also included in the book 1001 albums you must hear before you die. The album featured an mtv video for the title track directed by Paul Rachman who later went on to direct the documentary feature film american hardcore. regarded as one of the pioneers of hardcore punk, bad brains first formed in the mid-70s and quickly developed a very fast and intense punk-rock sound, which was both musically complex and strongly defined. They influenced rock giants like the beastie boys and were ranked in vh1’s 100 greatest artists of hard rock.
