Following a year long break from music and with a newfound spontaneous creative surge Amon DA¼A¼l II awoke from the shadows of Herrsching s Lake Amersee in October 1974 to record Hijack in just two days of sessions For these recordings almost all of the original lineup came together which may be the reason why this LP is a late masterpiece and second to none of the other Amon Duul II records Hijack is simply good from back to front It may not be as psychedelic as their early recordings in fact it is more rockorientated but this does not knock its quality In a detailed review written for the German music magazine Sounds Ingeborg Schober writes this about Hijack A new LP by Amon Duul II is always like Xmas for me Once again the Munich freaks have presented us a wonderful record of great musical variety This one will surely get us through another year
