Marry Waterson & Oliver Knight

Hidden

Despite being part of one of British folk’s most revered musical families for decades, it took a long time for brother and sister Marry Waterson and Oliver Knight to write and record together. The 2007 Waterson Family special, ‘A Mighty River of Song’ at the Royal Albert Hall - at which they performed an emotional ‘Fine Horseman’ together - was the point at which their combined creativity began to unlock. Gradually spending more and more time crafting songs in Olly’s studio, an album of material came together. ‘The Days That Shaped Me’ - featuring their own compositions and including co-writes and guest appearances from Kathryn Williams, James Yorkston and their cousin Eliza Carthy - finally arrived in 2011 to a very warm critical reception, the Independent On Sunday reckoning that “(It) Has the potential to be a lifelong companion. It’s that good. 5/5”
