Life Is Full OF Possibilities
A decade ago, Los Angelino electro bro Jimmy Tamborello released a masterful recorded called Life Is Full of Possibilities, a concept album whose wedded-together songs were a singular meditation on death.
Amidst its eerie moods of fried circuitry and clipped digital noise, Tamborello invited along scores of guest vocalists: Mia Doi Todd, Rachel Haden, Chris Gunst, and, of course, Death Cab for Cutie honcho Ben Gibbard. Tamborello and Gibbard went on to make a mint as The Postal Service, but Life Is Full of Possibilities is no mere prelude to something bigger and better; it was one of the best albums of last decade.
In celebration of its ten-year anniversary, popular record-label Sub Pop is reissuing Life Is Full of Possibilities with all the attendant bells, whistles, B-sides, lost tracks, remixes et al.
