Wayne Shorter
The Vee Jay Years
Having played with and composed for Art Blakey and Miles Davis Shorter is considered a Jazz great and given that he’s still alive and well at the age of 79 is a true living legend. Many of his compositions are now considered Jazz standards and his collection of nine Grammy awards, with the most recent collected in 2005, add some substantial weight to his artistic credentials. These two Vee-Jay offerings from ‘59 (his debut) and ‘62 respectively showcase his mastery of the Sax accompanied
by some truly awe inspiring bop musicians.
