Peace Is The Mission
It's hard to think of another artist who has they’re feet firmly planted across as many styles as the Mad Decent founder, head honcho and brand ambassador, Diplo. Equally immersed in Top 40 and hip-hop world as he is in underground club, indie rock and world music, the Grammy-nominated producer is embarking on his most ambitious year yet with not just the launch of the new Major Lazer cartoon on FXX, tour dates across the world (including the Mad Decent Boat and Block Parties), but also the release of a new Major Lazer album, Peace Is The Mission. Coming June 1st on Because/Mad Decent and available for pre-order today (with instant grat tracks "Lean On" and new song "Roll the Bass"), ‘Peace is the Mission’ will be the third studio album from Major Lazer, the dancehall collective spearheaded by Diplo with trusted co-conspirators Walshy Fire and Jillionaire.
Earlier this month, Major Lazer unleashed the first massive single "Lean On", a collaboration with "Turn Down For What" superstar producer DJ Snake and Danish it-girl MØ, and amassed over 7M plays on Soundcloud, over 11M streams on Spotify and over 3M views on the lyric video in less than a month! Currently, "Lean On" is #15 on the Spotify Global chart with over 1M views per day and today Major Lazer shares the epic video that they shot in India earlier this year.
Says Diplo on making the video in India, "India is special and its beauty absolutely humbled me. When we toured there as Major Lazer, it was mind blowing to see our fan-base and we wanted to incorporate the attitude and positive vibes into our video and just do something that embodies the essence of Major Lazer. Major Lazer has always been a culture mashup and to us, India feels like some kind of special creature with one foot in history and one firmly in the future. The experience is something we'll never forget."
Fans who’ve learned to associate Major Lazer with some of the biggest names in dancehall alongside up-and-comers and mainstream mainstays can expect even more exciting names on this go. PITM features guest contributions from Ellie Goulding, Elliphant, Wild Belle, MØ, Pusha T, 2 Chainz, Travi$ Scott, Jovi Rockwell, DJ Snake, Tarrus Riley, Mad Cobra, Nyla, Chronixx and a re-work of the Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Pt 1. motion picture soundtrack song "All My Love" featuring Ariana Grande from Trinidadian star Michel Montano.
Diplo, Walshy Fire & Jillionaire have brought life to Major Lazer all over the world, supporting past studio LPs Free The Universe and Guns Don't Kill People...Lazers Do, as one of the most exhilarating live acts in years. From throwing their own Kingston, Jamaica festival to appearing in select cities for the Mad Decent Block Party, Mad Decent Boat Party and every club in between, the dancehall-inspired electronic trio have left no stone unturned and no booty unshaken. They'll cross the globe again this Spring, Summer and Fall with new music and a new show - see 2015 tour dates below with more to be announced. What's more, the face of the project, renegade commando cartoon character Major Lazer, will get a life of his very own as FX Networks plans to debut the Major Lazer cartoon on April 16th as part of Animation Domination programming on FXX (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, The Simpsons, etc) With guest appearances from Aziz Ansari, Andy Samberg, Tiësto, RiFF RAFF, Charli XCX, Ezra Koenig, Trinidad James and more, Major Lazer confirms that this will be one of the silliest and best sound-tracked years yet. After airing weekly on FXX, each episode will go up the next day for stream on Hulu and purchase on iTunes. Check www.fxnetworks.com for more info.
When Major Lazer first launched in 2008, tastemakers embraced the indie side project and niche underground media outlets championed the sound. Seven years later, Major Lazer have developed their sound to become integrated with pop music and beyond and continued their ascent, recognized by their peers, fans and media around the world as leaders in a genre they helped to build.
