Davey Henderson's Nectarine No9 rerelease 'Saint Jack' one of the truly great Scottish albums of the last twenty years on Forever Heavenly It was originally released on Postcard Records in 1995 With 'Saint Jack' The Nectarine No 9 created an album of gorgeous scope There are occasional chimingly pretty instrumentals 'Curdled Fragments' suggests that if anyone is considering a noirish remake of Bill Forsyth's 'Local Hero' the soundtrack is already partly written The album's title track however growls out of the traps urgent compelling The Nectarine No 9 were joined in the studio by Jock Scot a charismatic musicindustry Zelig who'd worked as roadie for Ian Dury And The Blockheads and read his poetry as concert guest of Belle and Sebastian and The Libertines Jock's spoken narrative 'Just Another Fucked Up Little Druggy On The Scene' was added to the album's gathering popart excellenceA 2CD The album on CD one and their Peel Session recording from around the same time as the original album release as CD two LP Comes with download which features the album plus peel sessions
